Book Study:
Doing Justice Lenten Bible Study meets on Monday nights through March 30, at 6 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited. You also can join on Zoom. The link is posted on the church website on the Schedule and Events and Announcements pages.
[W]hat does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?”– Micah 6:8.
Inspired by the prophet Micah’s words, together we’re exploring what it means to do justice in our world today.
We began by looking at Jesus and how he proclaimed the nearness of the Reign of God, a new way of being and living where the poor are lifted up, the sick are healed and the marginalized are welcomed. Topics for future weeks follow.
March 2, Biblical witness to justice in the Old Testament.
The last four weeks, we’ll discuss the 20th century statements of faith and their historical contexts in the PC(USA) Book of Confessions.
March 9         Theological Declaration of Barmen (1934, Germany)
March 16       Confession of 1967 (U.S.A.)
March 23       Confession of Belhar (1982, South Africa)
March 30       Brief Statement of Faith (1991, U.S.A.)
Handouts of the Statements of Faith will be provided. Or you can download the entire Book of Confessions for free at https://www.pcusastore.com/Products/OGA16018/book-of-confessions-pdf.aspx.

The Broyles Class - Adults

The class uses The Present Word, Presbyterian Curriculum, which covers biblical, theological themes helpful for present times. The class is primarily group discussion, based on the weekly reading. Each quarter consists of 13 weeks - spring, summer, fall and winter with a unifying theme. We welcome newcomers. In addition to our Sunday meetings, we occasionally meet socially, a Christmas luncheon for example.
